Simba entered our lives on June 5, 2023, the day someone tried to end his. As an elderly dog searching for food in the trash, he was brutally beaten with a wooden plank. No one helped him. No one stepped in. When we arrived, he was swollen, limping, and in unbearable pain. His spirit was broken, but he was still holding on. At the hospital, we learned the full extent of the damage. Simba was anemic, fighting infection, and suffering from a fractured skull. He spent weeks hospitalized, receiving medicated baths, physiotherapy, antibiotics, and constant care just to stay alive. And slowly, he began to fight his way back. Today, Simba is a completely different dog. He still has a little bounce in his step. He loves greeting visitors, lounging on the couch, soaking up affection, and being part of every moment at the sanctuary. He is safe, he is adored, and he has found real peace here. Simba is already an older dog, and adoption is unlikely. But the truth is that he already has a home with us. He is a permanent member of our sanctuary family, and we are committed to giving him the best life for all his remaining years.
